Tips for Getting Productive Again After the Holiday Season

Categories

The beginning of the year is a hard time to get energetic. Sure, we make resolutions and our intentions are good, but in reality, most people want to ease back into their jobs and responsibilities.

Unfortunately, by the time everyone is back at work after the holiday season, most businesses are busy. Whether it’s a normal uptick in business or catching up from all the holiday vacations, there’s quite a bit of work to get done.

Get Productive in 3 Easy Steps

 1. Prioritize Your To-Do List

Grab your coffee and get all your to-dos in order. Make a master list of everything you need to do, then prioritize them according to urgency level or deadlines. Getting your to-dos out on a formal, visible list will help you get organized for a productive day and give you a post-holiday motivation boost!

2. Sort Your Emails

Chances are, coming off any holiday break, you will have extra emails. The best way to tackle them is to sort them into three categories based on when they need responses: today; this week; maybe never. From here, you’ll be able to determine which emails need your attention right away, and which ones can wait until later, after you’ve tackled bigger, more pressing responsibilities from your to-do list.

3. Take Power Breaks

Yes, even the most productive workers take breaks. A power break is just a few minutes, maybe a brisk walk outside or grabbing a coffee or ice water to recharge. Use your lunch to eat lunch. There’s a reason for lunch – to refuel and reboot – not to work. These breaks will recharge your mind and give you the energy you need to tackle the rest of your busy day.
